OUR JOURNEY
Company Founded
Inspired by the struggles of students using kerosene lamps, Spectra was established under the brand “Prashakthi” to bring safer, battery-powered lighting to homes across Sri Lanka.
Introduction of the Prashakthi Lamp
The first product launched: an 8W and 6W fluorescent lamp, designed to run on a 12V battery—developed under license from the NERD Center. This marked the beginning of Spectra’s journey in energy innovation.
Spectra Battery Charger
To power the Prashakthi lamp reliably, Spectra introduced a custom battery charger, ensuring consistent lighting for everyday use.
Arc Welding Transformer
With rising demand in industrial sectors, Spectra launched its Arc Welding Transformer, laying the foundation for a strong industrial product line.
Opening of Kurunegala Showroom
To meet growing demand and expand customer access, Spectra opened its first showroom in Kurunegala, strengthening its retail presence in Sri Lanka.
Dara Wayu Lipa Stove
Spectra introduced the “Lanka Shakthi Dara Wayu Lipa,” a high-efficiency firewood stove designed as a reliable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional cooking methods.
Bio Mass Rice Cooker
To help households reduce electricity usage, Spectra launched the Bio Mass Rice Cooker, engineered to operate using coconut shells—an affordable, sustainable energy source for domestic cooking.
Harvesting Cover Unit
Spectra introduced an innovative cover unit attachment for brush cutters, improving the safety and efficiency of paddy harvesting in Sri Lanka’s agricultural sector. This invention is protected under a registered patent, ensuring its unique design and functionality remain exclusively owned and recognized.
Water Treatment Plant
Launched in collaboration with the Institute of Fundamental Studies, this project aimed to remove fluoride and hardness from drinking water in dry zones, helping reduce kidney and fluorosis-related diseases in affected rural communities.
Bio Mass Fired Water Heater
Designed for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, this heater delivers continuous hot water using biomass fuels such as coconut shells and firewood, reducing heating costs and carbon emissions. This technology is also protected under a registered patent, ensuring its innovative design and functionality are exclusively recognized.
